Collection: Vans history / Vans California Era 48 Review

Vans history started 1966, Anaheim California, two brothers alone with three other partners opened up the very first Vans store.  In the earlier stages customers purchased the Vans deck shoe, now known as Authentic. Custom fit shoes were manufactured throughout the day and then picked up in the afternoon.

The company grew dramatically and by the late 1970s, vans were the choice of shoe for skateboarders. Mainly because of their low profile, board feel and non-slip sole making it easier to grip to the board. Although the company went through some highs and lows they still manage to be one of the best selling small companies in America. Now days Vans are still ideal for that crazy skater or anyone wanting a clean casual shoe.

Here at Trainers we’ve been stocking the Vans California for some time now. Now they’re back with a punch, dropping the Vans California Era 48. Coming in olive and navy colour ways, this shoe features a suede upper, padded collar, vulcanized rubber midsole, a non-slip rubber deck shoe sole, finished off with Nubuck leather trim at the heal and raw hide laces.

All round great shoe if you’re going to tear it up on the board or just for everyday use.
